Twin Lakes of Brandon Newsletter • Summer 2019 Edition Laura Moses, Editor
’ T T with HOA Volunteer Mark Gaudio
Hello Twin Lakes’ neighbors. Let’s talk about the glamorous subject of …trash… specifically, trash pickup, via the
services from our very own Hillsborough County Waste Management.
As you all know, trash pickup is of vital importance to any community, town or city. And companies that perform
this service are no less important than our landscapers, our plumbers, our auto mechanics, our electricians, our
roofers, etc. Aren’t we all glad we have these folks to help us when we need it—often on a moment’s notice. And
yet most of us, very seldom, give much thought to our trash service, other than complain when things go wrongnot
unlike your very own HOA (insert smile here). The hard working people for Hillsborough County’s Waste
Management provide a vital and helpful service that we, literally, could not live without. So let’s help them out by
taking a few extra moments to think about how we can make their job just a little bit easier and safer:
· Please set your trash bins at least three feet apart and not right next to one another. You may have noticed
that robotic arms are now used for trash bin pickup service and the robotic arms cannot fit between the bins
if they’re too close to one another. I usually put one bin on each side of my driveway entrance.
· Make sure the pickup area is free of obstructions.
· Do not put hot ashes, chemicals, solvents, paints, acid
or other hazardous / flammable materials in the bins.
It’s not only bad for the environment, but also danger-
ous for the pickup crew.
· Wash and rinse your trash bin on a consistent basis.
Maybe you might not notice the bacterial odor, but
that could be because you’re used to it.
· Please be patient with your pickup crew, especially
during periods of inclement weather, or unfavorable
conditions, when your delivery time may be delayed.
